Hyperliquid whale tracker: see top traders' live positions

7 min read · Updated October 16, 2026

A Hyperliquid whale tracker shows you what the biggest and most profitable traders on Hyperliquid are holding right now. Because Hyperliquid keeps its order book and positions on its own blockchain, every account is public: you can see side, size, leverage, entry price and liquidation price for any trader. sasa's Data page turns that into a ranked list of the top 100 traders, a page for each one, and a live feed of their moves. This guide shows how to read it.

Why Hyperliquid positions are public

On a centralized exchange your positions sit in the exchange's private database. On Hyperliquid, trades and positions are recorded on its chain, and Hyperliquid offers a free public API that anyone can read. That means a tracker doesn't have to guess from wallet transfers. It reads the account's real open positions directly. sasa uses that public API; it is not affiliated with Hyperliquid.

Finding the top traders

Open Data and go to Top traders. This is Hyperliquid's leaderboard filtered to accounts of $100K or more that are in profit over 30 days, showing the top 100. You can sort by 7 days, 30 days or all time, and each row shows the return and the account size.

Names come from the trader's own Hyperliquid display name if they set one. Otherwise sasa labels them Whale #rank, for example Whale #12. The ranking moves as profits change, so a trader who is Whale #12 today may be Whale #20 next week. For how the ranking works and its traps, see the Hyperliquid leaderboard guide.

Reading a trader's page

Tap any trader to open their page. It refreshes every 10 seconds and shows:

  • Account value, and profit today, over 7 days, 30 days and all time.
  • 30-day volume, which tells you whether this is an active trader or someone who sits in a few positions for weeks.
  • Live positions: for each one, the side, leverage, entry price, current profit, liquidation price and funding paid or received so far.
  • A long vs short bar showing how the whole book leans.
  • Moves this week and their latest trades.

Long/short exposure: how much and which way

Take an illustrative trader with a $5M account. They are long $6M of BTC and short $2M of ETH. Their gross exposure is $8M and their net exposure is $4M long. The long vs short bar would lean three quarters long.

That tells you more than either position alone. This trader is betting on BTC going up, partly offset by a bet that ETH lags. If ETH and BTC both fall 5%, they lose $300K on BTC and gain $100K on ETH: a $200K loss, about 4% of the account. Now compare a trader who is long $5M BTC and short $5M ETH. Their bar sits near the middle. They are betting on the gap between two coins, not on the market going up or down, and copying just their BTC long would give you a completely different trade.

Leverage and liquidation price

Leverage is position size divided by the margin behind it. A $2M BTC long at 10x uses $200K of margin. At 10x, a move of roughly 10% against the position wipes out that margin, and the exchange closes it before that point, so the liquidation price sits a bit closer than 10% away. On cross margin, the rest of the account can support the position, which pushes the liquidation price further out.

The liquidation price on a trader's page is the most honest number there. A whale whose BTC liquidation is 40% below the current price is not worried about a dip. One whose liquidation is 4% away is running a tight, aggressive book, and if price heads that way, their forced selling can add to the move.

Funding so far

Each position also shows the funding paid or received since it was opened. Hyperliquid charges funding every hour. A large long held through a period of high positive funding can quietly pay thousands a day to stay open. If a trader's funding line is a large positive number on a short, they may partly be in the trade to collect it. The funding rates guide explains how that works.

Following moves in real time

You don't have to keep opening trader pages. On the Data page, Whale moves shows what the 30 biggest winners by 30-day profit just did: opened, added to (20% or more bigger), cut (20% or more smaller), flipped or closed, with size in dollars, price, leverage and time. It is checked about every 30 seconds. Whale trades, next to it, lists every trade of $100K or more on the 20 busiest markets, and names the trader when one side is a known top trader.

To get notified on your phone instead, tap the bell on a trader's page. You can follow up to 50. The setup is covered in whale alerts.

A quick way to use both feeds together: when Whale moves shows a top trader opening a large position, check Whale trades for the same minute. If their name appears next to a $1M+ fill, you know the size hit the market at once rather than being built up slowly.

What a tracker can't tell you

  • Positions on other exchanges. A Hyperliquid long may be hedged by a short somewhere else.
  • Intent. A position might be a hedge for a spot bag, a funding trade, or a short-term scalp.
  • Exit plans. You see the entry, not where they plan to take profit or cut.

Use the tracker to understand positioning, not to hand your decisions to someone else. If you are thinking of mirroring a trader, read should you copy trade whales first. sasa's Futures page lets you trade Hyperliquid's markets with up to 20x leverage where it's available, but leverage can lose your whole margin, and nothing here is financial advice.

Questions

Can you see other traders' positions on Hyperliquid?

Yes. Hyperliquid keeps positions on its own blockchain and has a free public API, so any account's open positions, entry, leverage and liquidation price can be read.

Is there a free Hyperliquid whale tracker?

sasa's Data page is free and open in every country. It shows the top 100 traders, a live page for each with their positions, and a feed of what the 30 most profitable traders just did.

What does Whale #number mean on sasa?

It is the trader's rank on the leaderboard, used when the trader hasn't set their own Hyperliquid display name.

How often does the trader page update?

A trader's page refreshes every 10 seconds. The Whale moves feed is checked about every 30 seconds.

Does a whale's liquidation price matter to me?

It shows how much room they have. A large position with a nearby liquidation price can add forced selling or buying if the price reaches it.
