Axiom vs Photon vs GMGN: fees, chains and safety (2026)
8 min read · Updated October 26, 2026
Axiom, Photon and GMGN are all fast web terminals for trading new meme coins, and all three charge about 1% per trade. Axiom is the most polished Solana terminal and the only one of the three with volume cashback, staking and built-in perpetual futures. Photon is the simplest, Solana-only, with good limit orders and DCA. GMGN has the deepest wallet analytics, built-in copy trading and the widest chain coverage. Choose by what you trade and how much you care about custody, not by speed claims, which are close and hard to verify.
Most comparisons stop at features. This one also covers how each handles your keys and what has gone wrong, because with a trading terminal the biggest risk is often not the coin but the wallet setup.
How we compared them
- Real fee per trade, after cashback or referral discounts.
- Chains you can actually trade today.
- Custody: who generates and can access the wallet you trade from.
- Discovery: how new coins and migrations are surfaced.
- Automation: limit orders, copy trading, take-profit and stop-loss.
- Protection: MEV settings and token risk checks.
- Track record in 2025 and 2026.

Axiom: what it does well
Axiom was founded in 2024, went through Y Combinator's Winter 2025 batch and grew faster than almost any crypto app: public reporting credits it with about $100 million in revenue in roughly five months, and by one measure it handled as much as 72% of meme trading volume at its April 2025 peak. Its Pulse view sorts tokens by stage (new, close to graduating, just migrated), and it has wallet tracking and X monitoring.
Fees start at 1% and fall through seven cashback tiers based on your trading volume, from 0.95% at the entry tier down to 0.75% at the top. Axiom also offers SOL staking through its own validator at 0% commission, a liquid staking token (axiSOL), and perpetual futures with up to 50x leverage using USDC, through an integrated partner exchange.
Two cautions. In February 2026, after an on-chain investigator's report, Axiom confirmed that some team members had misused internal support tools to look up users' wallets; it revoked the access and promised more controls. No funds were reported stolen, but it is a reminder that a trading app knows which wallets are yours. And competition is fierce: in August 2026 the newer app Fomo passed Axiom in daily Solana trading volume.
Photon: what it does well
Photon is the older, simpler terminal. It charges a 1% platform fee on buys and sells, 0.9% with a referral, with network fees, priority fees and tips on top. As of October 2026 it trades Solana only; its earlier Ethereum, Base and BNB Chain support is listed as disabled.
Its strengths are order types and a clean layout: market and limit orders (buy the dip, take profit, stop loss, partial exits), DCA buying and selling, auto-buy presets and a Memescope that groups tokens by stage. It has MEV modes (Fast, Secure, Max Secure). Public reviews could not confirm copy trading or a trading API, so if you need those, look elsewhere.
GMGN: what it does well
GMGN started in 2023, moved to Solana in 2024, and now supports ten chains: Solana, BNB Chain, Base, Ethereum, Monad, TRON, HyperEVM, MegaETH, XLayer and Robinhood Chain. It charges 1% per trade. You can use it on the web, through Telegram bots and in its mobile app (launched December 2024).
Its edge is data. Wallets are tagged (smart money, KOLs, developers, snipers), and every token shows risk metrics such as insider share, bundled buys at launch, developer holdings and top-10 concentration, plus checks for honeypots, mint authority and LP burn. Copy trading is built in with fixed amounts, buy limits and separate take-profit and stop-loss. After data showed GMGN trades were about 30.8% of over 260,000 sandwich attacks on Solana in April 2025, it added three-level MEV protection in July 2025 and a compensation program for users hit while protection was on.
How do Axiom, Photon and GMGN check whether a token is safe?
None of them can tell you a coin will hold its value, but they differ in how much risk data they put in front of you before you click buy.
- GMGN shows the most: honeypot detection, mint authority, LP burn or lock status, holder concentration, insider and bundled-buy share at launch, developer holdings and flags for developer sells and migration.
- Axiom shows holder and developer data in Pulse and on token pages, plus wallet and X tracking so you can see who is buying and talking about a coin.
- Photon focuses on trading speed and order types; its token pages show the basics, and most traders pair it with a separate checker.
Whatever terminal you use, the checks that matter most are the same: can the coin be sold, is there a hidden tax, can more be minted, and how much do the top wallets and the developer hold. Our Solana meme coin safety check walks through each one in under two minutes.
Where can you trade from: web, mobile or Telegram?
All three are web apps first. GMGN also has a mobile app (since December 2024) and chain-specific Telegram bots, and in September 2026 it added GMGN GO, a mobile social trading layer. Axiom and Photon are mainly used in a desktop browser, which is where their multi-panel layouts work best. If you trade on your phone, GMGN has the most complete mobile option of the three, but the Telegram route carries the custody trade-off described below.
Which is cheapest: Axiom, Photon or GMGN?
For a heavy trader, Axiom, because cashback can bring the fee down to 0.75%. For an occasional trader, all three are close to 1%, with Photon at 0.9% if you sign up with a referral.
Worked example (illustrative only): you trade $20,000 of volume in a month. At 1% that is $200 in platform fees. With a Photon referral at 0.9% it is $180. At Axiom's top cashback tier of 0.75% it is $150, but you only reach that tier after much more cumulative volume, so a new user pays closer to $190. Priority fees and tips are extra on all three and can matter more than the platform fee in busy launches. Our guide to MEV in meme coin trading explains why setting tips too high or too low both cost you.
Who holds your keys? The custody trade-off
This is the part most comparisons skip. All three let you trade from a wallet the app creates for you, because signing every trade in an external wallet is too slow for meme coins. That is convenient, but it changes the risk:
- Connecting your own wallet (Phantom, MetaMask) keeps full custody with you, but each trade needs a signature, which is slower.
- An app-generated wallet signs instantly. You depend on the app's security for key storage, and the app can see which wallets belong to you, as Axiom's February 2026 incident showed.
- Telegram bot wallets are the most exposed: your Telegram account becomes the key to your funds, and GMGN's own guidance tells Telegram users to export the private key of the bot wallet.
Which is best for finding new coins early?
Axiom's Pulse and Photon's Memescope both show coins by stage, which makes it easy to watch coins near graduation or just migrated. GMGN shows the same flow and adds wallet labels, so you can see whether known snipers or bundles bought first. Before buying anything that early, read what a sniper bot is and how to spot bundled wallets.
What changed for Axiom, Photon and GMGN in 2026?
The terminal market moved quickly this year, and a review from 2025 can be badly out of date. The main changes we found:
- Axiom: the February 2026 staff wallet-lookup incident and the new controls that followed; a reported 44.6% share of Solana terminal activity in June 2026; and, in August 2026, Fomo passing it in daily Solana volume. Its cashback tiers, staking and perpetual futures remain.
- Photon: a narrower focus. Public reviews in October 2026 list Solana as its only active chain, with Ethereum, Base and BNB Chain trading disabled.
- GMGN: growth in breadth. It reached ten chains by September 2026, added AI Skills for automated agents (with signing kept under user control) and launched GMGN GO on mobile. In July 2026 Fomo passed it in 7-day revenue, by DeFiLlama data.
- Across the market: pump.fun bought the Padre terminal in October 2025 and runs it as its own terminal, so launchpads and terminals are starting to merge.
The pattern is that no terminal stays on top for long. Pick one for its fit with your trading today, keep your funds portable, and recheck fees and features every few months.
Which is best for copy trading?
GMGN, clearly. It has the most detailed rules and the wallet data to choose whom to copy. Axiom offers copy trading too. Photon's copy trading could not be confirmed. Copy trading is risky on fast coins because the wallet you copy often buys before you and sells into your buy. Our guide to copy trading meme coins explains how to set limits.
If you prefer to approve each copied trade, sasa's copy trading works differently: every trade from a trader you follow waits for your Apply or Reject. sasa is not a full terminal like these three; it is a simpler web app where you buy coins on Solana, Base, BNB Chain, Robinhood Chain, Arc and Ethereum from one USDC balance, with an email sign-up option and a token check on each coin page. Its data tab shows whale trades, top traders, funding rates and the Fear & Greed index. It is newer and has far fewer power-user features than Axiom, Photon or GMGN.
Which one should you use?
| Trader type | Best fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| High-volume Solana trader | Axiom | Cashback down to 0.75%, Pulse, perps |
| Beginner who wants limit orders | Photon | Simple layout, DCA, 0.9% with referral |
| Trades BNB Chain, Base or ETH too | GMGN | 10 chains in one terminal |
| Follows smart money wallets | GMGN | Wallet labels, copy-trade rules |
| Wants approval on each copied trade, USDC only | sasa | Apply or Reject; simpler, fewer tools |
Each of these has its own alternatives roundup: Axiom alternatives, Photon alternatives and GMGN alternatives. For the wider category, see the best meme coin trading terminals.
A faster terminal does not make a meme coin trade safer. Most new coins lose most of their value quickly; size every trade as money you can lose.
Questions
What fees does Axiom charge?
A 1% base fee per trade, lowered by SOL cashback to between 0.95% and 0.75% depending on your cumulative volume tier. Network fees, priority fees and tips are extra.
Is Photon still supporting Base and Ethereum?
As of October 2026, public reviews list Solana as Photon's only active trading chain, with its earlier Ethereum, Base and BNB Chain support described as disabled.
Which chains does GMGN support?
As of September 2026, ten: Solana, BNB Chain, Base, Ethereum, Monad, TRON, HyperEVM, MegaETH, XLayer and Robinhood Chain.
Is Axiom safe?
Axiom says it does not take custody of funds, and you can connect your own wallet. In February 2026 it confirmed some staff had misused support tools to look up users' wallets and revoked that access. Keep only a trading budget in any terminal wallet.
Is GMGN safe to use with Telegram?
It works, but a Telegram bot wallet ties your funds to your Telegram account's security. GMGN's guidance is to export the bot wallet's private key and store it safely; turning on two-factor on Telegram is also wise.
Which is the best Axiom alternative for multi-chain trading?
GMGN, because it supports ten chains including BNB Chain, Base and Ethereum. sasa is a simpler option for buying coins on six chains from one USDC balance, but it lacks terminal tools like multi-wallet orders.
Do Axiom, Photon and GMGN protect against MEV?
All three offer MEV settings. GMGN added three-level protection in July 2025, Photon has Fast, Secure and Max Secure modes, and Axiom lets you set priority fees and tips. None can guarantee you will never be sandwiched.
Can I use these terminals in the US?
Availability changes and depends on each platform's terms and features. Check each app's terms for your country before depositing.
