Best chains to launch a meme coin in 2026: Base, BNB Chain, Robinhood Chain, Arc and Solana compared
9 min read · Updated October 13, 2026
Picking a chain is the first irreversible decision in a meme coin launch. Once the pool exists, moving it means a relaunch and a new contract address, and most coins do not survive that. This guide gives a five-point scoring method, applies it to the chains where meme coins actually trade in 2026, and then explains the alternative: launching on several at once and letting the buyers decide. It assumes you already know the basics of how a launch works.
The five things that decide a launch chain
- Audience fit. Where do the people who would buy this coin already have a funded wallet? A chain with a million users and none of yours is an empty room.
- Cost to trade. Not just gas: gas plus pool fee plus price impact on a typical buy size. On a $10 buy, five cents of gas is 0.5%; on a chain where gas is $1, it is 10% and small buyers stay away.
- DEX and bot coverage. Is the coin's pool a pair that DexScreener, GMGN and the trading bots index on day one? If not, discovery is on you alone.
- Launch tooling. Can you deploy, seed, lock and announce without writing code, and does the tool lock liquidity by default?
- What happens to liquidity. Locked forever, burned, locked for a period, or held by the creator. Buyers on every chain check this, and locked liquidity explained shows what they look for.
Base
Coinbase's Ethereum layer 2, chain ID 8453, fees in ETH, Uniswap v4 as the DEX. Audience: large, X-native, Coinbase-adjacent. Cost: a few cents per swap, rising when Ethereum is busy. Coverage: complete; a Uniswap v4 ETH pair is indexed by every tool within seconds. Tooling: launch factories such as Clanker deploy a token and a Uniswap v4 ETH pool from a post, plus bonding-curve launchpads and content-coin platforms like Zora. Liquidity: factories typically keep the position out of the creator's hands, and buyers expect that. Weakness: competition. Hundreds of coins per day means a good one can be invisible without a push. The step-by-step is in how to launch a meme coin on Base.
BNB Chain
Chain ID 56, fees in BNB, PancakeSwap as the DEX. Audience: the largest retail EVM crowd, strong in Asia, active in Telegram more than X. Cost: a few cents per swap, independent of Ethereum. Coverage: complete for PancakeSwap BNB pairs. Tooling: four.meme for curve launches, direct PancakeSwap pools for creators with their own liquidity. Liquidity: launchpad graduations lock or burn; direct pools are on the creator. Weakness: a coin aimed at a US or European audience can get no traction at all. The side-by-side with Base is in Base vs BNB Chain for meme coins.
Robinhood Chain and Arc: the younger markets
Robinhood Chain is Robinhood's Ethereum layer 2 on Arbitrum technology, chain ID 4663, fees in ETH, Uniswap as the DEX, mainnet since July 1, 2026. Audience: a new retail crowd arriving through Robinhood's own products, smaller than Base's. Cost: a few cents per swap; details in Robinhood Chain gas fees. Coverage: good and improving as tools add the chain. Tooling: a small set of launchpads, plus direct Uniswap launches. Liquidity: depends on the route. Strength: less competition per coin and an audience that is genuinely new to meme coins. Weakness: thinner liquidity and a crowd that has not yet settled into habits. The comparison with Base is in Robinhood Chain vs Base for meme coins.
Arc is Circle's layer 1 built for USDC, with gas paid in USDC and no separate gas token, Uniswap v4 deployed. Audience: dollar-native users and payment flows; the meme coin crowd is the smallest of the five today. Cost: a few cents, in USDC, with no gas-token price to track. Coverage: growing; not every tool indexes Arc yet. Tooling: direct Uniswap v4 USDC pools, and Arc is one of the four chains in a sasa launch. Liquidity: pools are coin/USDC, so the dollar price is the pool ratio. Strength: the only chain where a trader with nothing but USDC can buy, hold and sell without touching another asset. Weakness: thin pools and few eyes. More in meme coins on Arc Network.
Solana
Not EVM, fees in SOL, pump.fun as the dominant launchpad with graduation to its own DEX, PumpSwap. Audience: the largest meme coin crowd anywhere by number of launches and traders. Cost: very cheap per transaction. Coverage: complete. Tooling: pump.fun is a form-and-button bonding-curve launch. Liquidity: handled by the launchpad at graduation. Weakness: the sheer volume of launches means most coins get no attention at all, and the crowd is Solana-only; EVM holders need to buy SOL first. Pump.fun alternatives covers the options for creators who want out of that funnel.
Scoring them side by side
- Audience size: Solana, then Base and BNB Chain, then Robinhood Chain, then Arc.
- Audience fit: depends entirely on your coin. US internet culture leans Base; Asian retail leans BNB Chain; a Robinhood-user joke leans Robinhood Chain; a stablecoin or payments meme leans Arc.
- Cost to trade: all five are cheap; Arc the simplest because gas is the quote asset.
- Coverage: Base, BNB Chain and Solana complete; Robinhood Chain close; Arc growing.
- Competition per coin: Solana and Base highest; BNB Chain high; Robinhood Chain and Arc lowest.
- Liquidity out of the creator's hands by default: launch factories on Base, launchpad graduations on BNB Chain and Solana; direct launches anywhere are on you.
Where to get the data before you decide
Audience size and coverage change month to month, so check them rather than relying on reputation. Three sources are enough:
- DexScreener per chain: sort new pairs by volume for the last 24 hours and count how many new meme coins broke $100,000 of volume. That is the live size of each chain's meme coin market.
- sasa's Explore page, which lists coins launched on sasa plus the busiest coins from other DEXs on Base, BNB Chain, Robinhood Chain and Arc, each with a safety check already applied.
- The communities themselves. Spend an hour in the Telegram groups and X threads where coins like yours are discussed and note which chain the contract addresses belong to. That one observation beats any ranking.
What you are looking for is not the biggest number but the best ratio: a chain with enough buyers for your coin and few enough competing launches that yours can be seen.
The alternative: do not pick
Every scoring exercise above ends with the same uncertainty: you do not know which crowd will show up until it does. sasa's launch model is built around that: a single launch opens a native pool on Base, BNB Chain, Robinhood Chain and Arc at the same contract address, the creator makes a first buy on each chain (from $5 per chain) plus a few cents of network fees, and after five minutes the chain that bought the most keeps everything, less a 2% hand-over fee on the losing pools' money, in one locked pool, with holders from the other chains moved over automatically. How the 5-minute launch race works walks through it.
The effect on the chain decision is that it stops being a decision. If the BNB crowd buys hardest, the coin lives on PancakeSwap with four chains' worth of liquidity, less the 2% hand-over fee; if Base does, on Uniswap v4. Creators get 30% of trading fees on that pool forever, or can choose buyback-and-burn instead. The coin shows on DexScreener and the bots at once because the winning pool is a native pair. The one thing the race does not do is create an audience; a coin nobody wants loses on all four chains at once, which is at least a fast answer.
Decision checklist
- Name the exact community your first buyers come from and which chain they already use.
- If one chain clearly fits, launch there with tooling that locks liquidity by default.
- If two or more chains plausibly fit, or you are guessing, launch as a race.
- Whatever the chain, make the first buy yourself, announce with the contract address, and never post the name alone. How to announce a coin launch on X covers the post.
Questions
What is the best chain to launch a meme coin on?
The one where your first buyers already hold the gas token and watch the DEX. Base and BNB Chain have the biggest EVM crowds, Solana the biggest overall, and Robinhood Chain and Arc have less competition per coin.
Is it cheaper to launch a meme coin on Base or Solana?
Both are cheap; gas on either is cents or less per transaction. For a launch the bigger cost on either is the liquidity you seed, not the gas.
Can I launch a meme coin on more than one chain?
Yes. sasa opens pools on Base, BNB Chain, Robinhood Chain and Arc in one launch at the same contract address, then consolidates liquidity on the chain that bought the most during a five-minute race.
Which chain has the least competition for new meme coins?
Robinhood Chain and Arc, because they are younger markets with fewer launches per day. The trade-off is thinner liquidity and smaller crowds than Base, BNB Chain or Solana.
Does the chain affect whether liquidity is locked?
Indirectly. Launch factories on Base and launchpad graduations on BNB Chain and Solana usually keep the liquidity position out of the creator's hands; a direct DEX launch on any chain leaves the lock up to the creator.
