How to send USDC to Solana from an exchange, wallet or other chain

To send USDC to Solana, start from wherever your USDC is now, pick Solana as the network, and send it to a Solana address. From an exchange, that means choosing USDC, then the Solana network, on the withdrawal screen. From a Solana wallet, it is a normal token send. From another chain, you need either a cross-chain transfer or a platform that moves the value for you.
This guide covers all three routes, the checks that stop money going missing, and how to deposit Solana USDC straight into a sasa balance. It does not assume you already have a Solana wallet.
What is USDC on Solana?
USDC is a dollar stablecoin issued by Circle. It exists natively on many chains, and on Solana it is an SPL token, the Solana token standard. Native USDC on Solana has one mint address: EPjFWdd5AufqSSqeM2qN1xzybapC8G4wEGGkZwyTDt1v. Wallets and explorers show it as USDC with a verified badge. Anyone can create a token called USDC with a different mint, and scammers do, so the mint address is the only thing that proves it is the real one.
Solana stores token balances in token accounts, one per token per wallet. Most wallets create the USDC token account for you the first time you receive USDC; when you send to someone who has never held USDC, your wallet may create their token account and charge you a tiny amount of SOL for it. You do not need to manage this by hand, but it explains why a first transfer sometimes costs slightly more than later ones.
Solana addresses are base58 strings, usually 32 to 44 characters, with no 0x at the start. If you have a 0x address, you have an EVM address (Ethereum, Base, BNB Chain and others), and it cannot receive Solana USDC. Terms like SPL and mint are also in the meme coin glossary.
How do I send USDC from an exchange to Solana?
This is the most common route, and the one with the fewest moving parts.
- Copy the destination Solana address: your own Solana wallet, or the deposit address shown by the service you are funding.
- On the exchange, open Withdraw, choose USDC, then choose Solana (sometimes labelled SOL or SPL) as the network. Do not leave the network on Ethereum or another default.
- Paste the address and check the first and last four characters against the original.
- Enter a small test amount first, note the withdrawal fee the exchange shows, and confirm.
- Wait for it to arrive. Solana confirms in seconds; the wait is usually the exchange's own processing time.
- Check the transaction on Solscan or in the destination app, then send the rest.
Most major exchanges support USDC withdrawals on Solana, but the fee and the minimum withdrawal differ between exchanges and change over time, so read them on the withdrawal screen rather than assuming.
Worked example: withdrawing 200 USDC from an exchange
Example only. The fee here is made up to show the arithmetic; your exchange shows its real fee before you confirm.
You hold 200 USDC on an exchange and want it on Solana. You first withdraw 10 USDC as a test; the exchange shows a 1 USDC fee, so 9 USDC arrives. You check it on Solscan: the token is USDC with the mint EPjFWdd5AufqSSqeM2qN1xzybapC8G4wEGGkZwyTDt1v and the destination is your address. You then withdraw the remaining 190 USDC; after the same 1 USDC fee, 189 USDC arrives. In total, 198 of your 200 USDC reached Solana and 2 USDC went on fees. The test cost you one extra fee, which is cheap insurance against a wrong address.
How do I send USDC from a Solana wallet?
From a wallet like Phantom, sending USDC is a token transfer. Open the USDC balance, choose Send, paste the Solana address, enter the amount and approve. You need a little SOL in the same wallet for the network fee, because Solana fees are paid in SOL, not in USDC. The fee is a tiny fraction of a dollar, but a wallet with zero SOL cannot send anything. Keep a small SOL buffer if you use your own Solana wallet regularly.
How do I move USDC from Ethereum, Base or another chain to Solana?
USDC on Base or Ethereum is not the same token as USDC on Solana, so you cannot simply send it to a Solana address. You have three options.
- Through an exchange: deposit the USDC on its current chain, then withdraw it on Solana as above. Simple, but it goes through an account and two sets of fees and processing times.
- Through a cross-chain transfer service: Circle runs a native burn-and-mint transfer for USDC between supported chains, and many bridges and wallets build on it. You need a wallet on both sides and the gas token of the source chain.
- Through a single balance: on sasa you can deposit USDC on other supported chains into the same Cash balance and withdraw USDC to any Solana address. The value moves through one balance instead of a bridge you operate yourself.
The wider picture of moving dollars across chains is in move USDC between chains without a bridge.
Depositing Solana USDC into sasa
If your goal is to trade or launch coins on sasa, you do not need a Solana wallet at all. In the deposit screen, choose Solana USDC; sasa shows you a one-time deposit address. Send Solana USDC to that address from an exchange or any wallet, and it lands in the same USDC Cash balance you use for everything else on sasa. From there you can buy coins on Solana, Base, BNB Chain, Robinhood Chain, Arc and Ethereum.
Going the other way, you can withdraw USDC from Cash to any Solana address, including an exchange's Solana USDC deposit address. Because there is no wallet to set up and no SOL to buy, this is the shortest path for someone who has USDC on an exchange and wants to try Solana meme coins. The next step is covered in how to buy Solana meme coins with USDC, and creators can read launch a Solana meme coin without a wallet.
Common mistakes when sending USDC to Solana
- Wrong network: withdrawing USDC on Ethereum or another chain to a Solana address. Most exchanges block this because the address format does not match, but always check the network field.
- Sending to the mint address: the USDC mint address is the token's identity, not a wallet. Never send funds to it.
- Fake USDC: receiving or buying a token called USDC that has a different mint. It is worthless. Check the mint on Solscan.
- No SOL for fees: trying to send USDC from your own Solana wallet with zero SOL. The transaction fails until you add a little SOL.
- Clipboard swaps: malware that replaces a copied address with an attacker's. Comparing the first and last characters catches it.
- Skipping the test: sending everything to a new address at once. A small test first costs one fee and avoids the expensive mistake.
How long does it take and how do I check it arrived?
On Solana itself, a transfer usually finalises in seconds. Delays come from the sending side: exchanges batch or review withdrawals, and that can take minutes or longer. Once you have a transaction signature, paste it into a Solana explorer such as Solscan. You should see the USDC mint, the amount and the destination address. If the explorer shows the transfer succeeded but your app does not show the balance yet, give it a moment to refresh; if it still does not appear, contact the receiving service with the signature.
Once your USDC is on Solana, the money is in place. What you do with it next is up to you; if you plan to buy meme coins, remember they are high risk and can lose most of their value quickly, so start small. The coins on the move today are on the explore page.
Questions
Can I send USDC from Ethereum directly to a Solana address?
No. USDC on Ethereum and USDC on Solana are separate tokens on separate chains, and Ethereum addresses start with 0x while Solana addresses do not. Use an exchange, a cross-chain transfer service or a platform with one balance across chains.
What is the USDC contract address on Solana?
Native USDC on Solana has the mint address EPjFWdd5AufqSSqeM2qN1xzybapC8G4wEGGkZwyTDt1v. Any token called USDC with a different mint is not Circle's USDC.
Do I need SOL to send USDC on Solana?
If you send from your own Solana wallet, yes, a small amount of SOL pays the network fee. If you withdraw from an exchange, the exchange pays the network fee and deducts its own withdrawal fee from the USDC.
How long does a USDC transfer to Solana take?
The Solana transfer itself takes seconds. Exchange withdrawals can take minutes or longer because of the exchange's own processing.
Can I deposit Solana USDC into sasa without a Solana wallet?
Yes. sasa shows a one-time deposit address for Solana USDC; send to it from an exchange or any wallet and the USDC lands in your Cash balance. You can also withdraw USDC to any Solana address.
What happens if I send USDC on the wrong network?
It depends on where it went. If it reached an address you control on another chain, you can usually recover it with that chain's wallet. If it went to an exchange on an unsupported network, contact the exchange support; recovery is not guaranteed. A small test transfer first avoids most of these cases.
